Aesthetic, accessible, durable - a retaining wall built right.
The James Project
The Client’s Vision
This client called us about ten years prior to us actually completing some work for them in regards to the same issue. Ten years after that first call, this client said he really needed some help with several walls that were improperly installed using the wrong sized block for the application. They knew on the quality of our work because they saw what we had done across the road from them - a retaining wall and stones that had been standing unmoved for the past ten years. They needed to ensure handicap accessibility down to their dock in a safe manner without using an automatic lift, which the city was not going to allow. Our solution was to remake their existing pathway so that it was wide enough and secure enough for a golf cart to go safely up and down.
The Project
After checking to confirm we were just outside of the riparian area which would have required specific permits for work, we were able to demo the old walls and pathways and rebuild with new, properly-sized blocks. We were able to reuse some of their existing materials and leave them with a finished product that was accessible, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
